Get Warm with Hot New Show Openings! The Artists of the Nelsonville Historic Square Arts District will feature warm colors and hot subjects for your viewing entertainment with each new Art Opening. Also, enjoy cozying up with a new book, crochet a warm blanket or start a quilt.

Starbrick Gallery: Opening Night: News from the Underground. A multi media show featuring stained glass lamps, ceramics, encaustic painting, beaded tiaras, collages, photography and children’s art. Something for everyone from this talented group of artists.
Majestic Galleries: Opening Night: The Process. Get a “behind the scenes” look at artists’ work in progress. This is a group multi-media show from the Majestic Co-op.
Hocking College Art Gallery: Opening Night: Mixed Bag. New work from Hocking art students including paintings, drawings, ceramics, glass and photos.
Stuart's Gallery 1879 Opening Night: the work of West Virginia printmaker Diane Radford. Her artwork includes letterpress and etching.
Paper Circle: Continuing: Off the Page, artist books by Ellen Sheffield, Emily Rieser and Stephanie Sherwood. Sculptural with moving parts, multilayered with poetic text and images, and tactile with found objects and handmade papers, these artists’ books by three Ohio-based artists, in surprising and inventive ways, break expectations of what one thinks of as a book.
Morristowne Photography offering a free portrait session that will include a free digital image sent to all participants with email accounts

Happy New Year!
Well we are back and planning great new things for this year! We are meeting to talk about the different shows and exciting new events that we will be offering. Here are some of the great things we are talking about:
Holiday Show will be December 10th and 11th 2011! The hours TBA!
If you have any suggestions please let us know!
Art Markets are coming soon so maybe mark you calendars...you need to commit for all the shows but you do not have to vend but it will be a set fee. You must be a member of ALPACA to do this. These are the tentitive dates for the mall.

at the OUC Quinn Library on “Making a living through your art”.

The Athens Local Professional Artists and Craftsmen Association (A.L.P.A.C.A.) will feature locally made art and crafts during its third annual Holiday Shop, Dec. 11 and 12 at the Athens Community Center. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. Sunday.
More than 20 local vendors will sell items such as jewelry, ceramics, glasswork, handmade clothing, baskets, fine art and children's goods. Vendors include:

Tis the Season....
The ALPACA board met on Monday, November 8th 2010 to talk about the Holiday Show that will be happening in December.
Please remember to send in your applications to Lori with your money. We are working on trying to get some musical guests to play so please email Nancy at musictoo@hotmail.com if you know of anyone who wants to play music in the lobby for the show. Think about any kids in bands, church groups, local people or yourself! We are also looking for a Santa, maybe a hayride or some other form of entertainment. Please let us know if you have any ideas for us!
