Remember if you have art at the library please pick it up tomorrow anytime between 4pm and 6pm. Thank you for all who gave up time to display art.

Holiday Show Application

Applications are now avalible for the Holiday Show. The cost is $50.00 for the weekend. The dates are December 12th and 13th and it is at the Market on East State out in the common mall area. Please contact Lori Hibbard with questions about this show.

Christmas Tree Lighting

Hi All,
We will once again participate in the Christmas Tree Lighting event that is held uptown every year. This year the event will be on Thursday December 3rd from 6pm to 8pm. We will be located in the atrium of Five on Court and will be having a make your own Christmas ornament for the kids. We need donations for the kids to use to decorate their ornament. We already have a base for the ornament we need items to use to decorate with. Some ideas are beads, glitter, string, anything that the kids can use for their ornaments.Also we need volunteers to come on out to help with this project. This will be a great time to advertise for our up coming holiday show at the mall.Also those who come to help with the kids may bring ornaments that they made to sell at the event. Last year we set up a christmas tree with ornaments for sale. This is also a great way for people to see your work. Let me know if you are interested in participating.

Library Reception

November 4th from 5:30 to 7:30

In the the lobby of the Athens Library

Please come and help us recognize the artists of ALPACA who have artwork on display at the the library. The reception is a good chance to meet and greet with other members of ALPACA. Even if you did not submit a piece for this show we would love to have you come visit. There will be refreshments served in the lobby and ALPACA board members there to answer questions you might have. See you on the 4th!

Homecoming Art Market 2009


Well the classic Ohio fall weather seemed to win and we had a very poor showing at the Homecoming Art Market on Saturday but I would like to thank all the vendors that did come and brave the cold. I would also like to thank Don Hibbard for his effort with the hog roast. It did not happen on Saturday due to the rain and lack of people but Don gave it his all and tried to make it a good time for everyone.

Holiday Show Information

Pig Roast

Thank You to all the artists who came on Thursday night to our membership meeting. We had some amazing desserts and a really good crowd of people with an interest in the group. If you did not make it to the meeting you still need to renew your membership with Lori. The bonus now is that you get a nice frame with the ALPACA logo on it to display that you are a member. These frames will fit in a 5 X 7 frame and you can design them with your medium for display at your booth. If you are not a vendor then it will just be pretty to put your picture in for posterity!

Notes from the President:

This Saturday, September 26 from 10 to 1 pm in Bicentennial Park. You must be a paid member and have paid your $20 Art Market fee. Please write me by Thursday to tell me if you are going to be at the Art Market.

At the last board meeting on 9-17-09 we talked about a few things that I need to share.

The most important thing is that the next membership meeting is going to be on

October 8th at Arts West.

Please bring anyone interested in joining ALPACA.

There will be desserts, coffee and important information about the group, grants and future shows.

We talked about upcoming show date for 2010 and here are some of the potential dates:

July 4th Show on July 3rd and 4th 2010

Foothills Art and Blues Festival on August 27th and 28th 2010

Holiday Show on December 11th and 12th 2010

We want to encourage people to think ahead and be prepared for shows in the future.

Meet a member of ALPACA!

Janet and Dave Gustafson work in the medium of fused glass. Janet is a teacher for Athens City Schools and Dave has just retired from working in school psychologist. They currently serve on the ALPACA board with Dave as president. You can see their work at many local shows such as the Dairy Barn Holiday Show, ART Markets at Bicentennial Park, Holiday Shows at The Markets on East State and many more. New meeting information

The new date for the fall membership meeting is October 8th at ARTS West. Please bring a dessert and some questions for us about ALPACA. Nancy Baur will be doing a short presentation about Grant Funding for local artists. If you have questions please contact any member of the ALPACA board.

September News

Well the summer is not officially over but the leaves are starting to brown out here in Meigs county. It is time to start our fall show season so start your crafting and get ready to travel.
Here are some important dates you need to know about ALPACA for the month of September.

September 3rd- Board Meeting

September 17th at Arts West----Fall Membership Drive
This event if for everyone and we need you to try to bring a friend who would like to join. We will be talking about membership, shows and Nancy will present on Grant Writing. Please bring a dessert to share with everyone. Please contact a board member with questions. ( see bottom of page)

September 25th---- Art Market
Come and sell your wares at Bicentennial Park from 10am until 1pm. You need to be a member and have paid for your art markets to vend. Contact Lori with questions.

October 17th-----Homecoming Art Market
This will be a new show for us and will be from 11am until around dark at Bicentennial Park. There will be more information to come.

December 11th and 12th----Possible dates for the Holiday Show

Dear ALPACA Friends,
My name is Nancy Baur and as a board member,one of my duties has been to create a newsletter. This was getting a little difficult to update so I am starting this blog to keep people informed. This blog will enable everyone to access the information for ALPACA when ever they want and not have to wait for a new newsletter every month. I will be adding information as it comes to me so if you have something you want to add please email me at nbaur@jcs.k12.oh.us. Any information you think is important to the group can be added.
I am currently not in town but will be home to Ohio soon and working more of this blog. until then please let me know what would be most helpful for you and I can start to work on the best layout for the group.
